In 2012, she began volunteering at a community garden, where she discovered the joy of growing food and sharing it with those in need. This passion quickly found its way into her teaching. Since 2013, she has incorporated gardening into her physical education classes, helping students learn how to plant, care for, and harvest their own food. In 2024, with generous support from the Rotary Club—including planting towers and garden supplies—more children have been given the opportunity to connect with nature in a hands-on way. Featured Speaker for June 18th Meeting: State Senator Jonathan Martin Florida Senate Senator Jonathan Martin, an accomplished attorney and dedicated public servant, was born in Cherokee, Iowa, and moved to Florida in 1986. He holds a Juris Doctor from Liberty University School of Law. He also earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts from Stetson University, where he served as president of the Student Government Association. Senator Martin's career in public service began as an Assistant State Attorney in the 20th Judicial Circuit, serving in Hendry County from 2008 to 2009, Glades County from 2009 to 2012, and Lee County from 2012 to 2014. In 2022, Senator Martin was elected to the Florida Senate, where he continues to serve his constituents with dedication and integrity.
