DESCRIPTION:Featured Speaker for August 7th Meeting:Candy Chapman\nLieutenant – Lee County Sheriff’s Office\nLieutenant Candy Chapman joined Lee County Sheriff’s Office in June of 2003 as a Corrections Deputy. Candy’s duties as a Corrections Deputy included the care\, custody\, and control of inmates in her assigned area during their daily activities. Candy attended and passed The Southwest Florida Public Service Academy’s crossover from Corrections to Law Enforcement Class\, passing the state exam in 2006. In January of 2015\, Candy was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the Corrections Bureau. Her duties as a Sergeant within the Corrections Bureau were to supervise a shift\, direct operations\, prepare performance evaluations\, inmate releases\, oversee facility security and sanitation\, and perform daily inspections of the facility. \nIn February of 2022\, Candy was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the Corrections Bureau and was assigned to the Services Division. There\, she oversees contracted staff for medical and the kitchen. She also oversees the Day Worker program and Nan’s Ranch. She continues to serve as a Corrections Services Lieutenant with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. \nStella and CeCe Spanberger\nWe will have special entertainment provided by Stella and CeCe Spanberger starting at 7:25. In Florida\, John served as the Chief Financial Officer for the Lee County Tax Collector\, overseeing the collection of $1.8 billion in taxes and fees that support Lee County municipalities and taxing authorities. \nBodner is actively involved in his community and has served on many boards and committees\, including the Kentucky Project Management Institute Advisory Board\, ICMA Technical Advisory Board\, ICMA Welcome Ambassadors\, United Way of Lee\, Hendry and Glades County Allocation Committee\, Lee County School District Finance Advisory Committee and Lee County Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. He has been with TSA for 20 years and has been a canine handler for 4 years. Ken’s assigned partner is a 5-year-old German Short Hair Pointer named Don. \nDanny F. Caraway is a Supervisory Training Specialist for the Transportation Security Administration at the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) Mission Support/Training Department. His primary responsibilities are Field Evaluation Testing Coordinator supporting the live environment testing\, analysis\, and training of TSA Officers\, Training Department Management and Supervision at RSW\, and oversight for the Punta Gorda Airport Training Department. RSW TSA Education Coordinator and primary signature authority for RSW SIDA Badging for all TSA and support contractors and vendors. \nDanny has been with TSA since October of 2002\, entering as a Transportation Security Officer at Honolulu International Airport\, working up the ranks to the TSA Security Manager position\, and transferring home to Ft. Myers in December of 2007 due to the loss of family members. After graduating with honors from Florida State University College of Medicine in 2016\, she returned to Southwest Florida to complete her residency training at the FSU Family Medicine Residency Program at Lee Health. Throughout her residency\, she earned multiple awards for service and advocacy in addition to being elected by her peers to serve as chief resident during her senior year. Transitioning into clinical practice\, she decided to continue serving her local community by accepting a faculty position with the same program where she completed her training. Today\, as a board certified family physician and clinical assistant professor of medicine\, she not only works tirelessly to address health disparities among her patients\, but also teaches physicians in training under her to do the same. \nRecently\, Dr. Dimas has accepted a position as the founding Program Director for a new Family Medicine Residency Program with Healthcare Network in Immokalee. DESCRIPTION:Featured Speaker for February 7th Meeting:Megan Rose\nCEO – Better Together\nMegan Rose is the CEO of Better Together\, a nonprofit that helps parents who are going through a difficult time keep their kids out of foster care\, find work and address the root causes of their struggle so that they can reunite as a family with the tools and support system to thrive. \nHer own family’s story of challenges and redemption inspired Rose’s career path. She earned an undergraduate degree in psychology and a master’s degree in human services counseling\, both from Liberty University. She then worked more than 13 years in social services before establishing Better Together in 2015. \nWith the help of volunteers and church communities\, the organization’s families program helps parents build lasting support systems to help overcome hardships like job loss\, addiction\, homelessness\, medical emergencies\, and incarceration. The program works; 98% of children served through hosting and mentoring remain out of the state system. The organization’s work program connects parents and others to meaningful work opportunities via job fairs\, coaching and business partners. \nRose’s work has been recognized locally and nationally. The Manhattan Institute named her a Civil Society Fellow\, raising national awareness of the Better Together mission\, and in 2019\, named her a Civil Society Award winner. She was recognized as a 40 Under 40 honoree by the Business Observer in 2021 and Gulfshore Business in 2022. Better Together also received SWFL Inc.’s 2022 Nonprofit of the Year and The Community Foundation’s 2020 Nonprofit Rising Organization of the Year. DESCRIPTION:Featured Speaker for January 17th Meeting:Stan Nelson & Shari Clark\nUpdate on Pine Manor\nStan Nelson is the Planning and Research Director for the Lee County Sheriff’s Department. Currently\, he serves as the president of the board of directors of the Pine Manor Improvement Association. Stan is an incredibly talented grant writer. \nShari Clark is a US Army veteran who served in the Gulf War. When she left the military\, she moved to Ft. Myers to be with her mother in her final months. She worked for Arizona Beverages. When they closed their operations here\, Shari went to the Pine Manor Community Center to apply for unemployment and use the computers to search for jobs. She volunteered to help others with job searches. Her skills soon led to being hired as a part-time Outreach Coordinator. Two years later\, she was hired by Goodwill to be the full-time Neighborhood Resource Specialist.
