Kevin Anderson
Mayor of Fort Myers
Kevin B. Anderson was sworn in as the 62nd Mayor of Fort Myers on November 16, 2020, after serving as Ward 4 councilperson for the previous two years. Mayor Anderson retired from Chico’s FAS, Inc. in June 2019 after 15 years. Prior to joining Chico’s, he had a more than 24-year career with the Fort Myers Police Department, holding the rank of Major at retirement. Anderson also served three years in the United States Army.
Mayor Anderson is a graduate of Edison Community College (now Florida SouthWestern State College), Florida Gulf Coast University, and the University of Louisville Southern Police Institute. A dynamic community member with a long history of civic involvement, Anderson has been a resident of Fort Myers since 1979, serving on numerous boards and coalitions across Southwest Florida.
Currently, Mayor Anderson serves as chair of the Premier Mobile Health Services Board of Directors, as well as sits on advisory boards for the Lee County Horizon Council and Hurricane Ian Recovery Task Force. Additionally, he serves on the board of directors for Valerie’s House, Barbara’s Friends, United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades Counties, and the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools. Furthermore, Anderson serves as a mentor for the Foundation’s “Take Stock in Children” program that provides a unique opportunity for deserving, low-income youth to escape the cycle of poverty through education.
On a state level, Mayor Anderson sits on the Florida League of Mayors Board of Directors and the Florida League of Mayors Veteran Affairs Committee, and he serves as an active member of both the Florida League of Cities and the Southwest Florida League of Cities.
Mayor Anderson has been recognized with the following distinctions: Lee Pitts Live 2022 “Person of the Year” for Diversity and Inclusion Leadership, United States Conference of Mayors Small Business Advocate, 2023 Lideres “Amigo” Award, 2024 Florida Gulf Coast University Alumnus of Distinction, Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel 2024 “Public Official of the Year”, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Fort Myers Alumni Chapter “2024 Community Leadership Award”.
